Ephesians 5:14 ESV: “Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”
1 Corinthians 15:34 ESV: Wake up from your drunken stupor, as is right, and do not go on sinning. For some have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame.
Three Types of People
1 Corinthians 2:14-16 ESV: The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. The spiritual person judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one. “For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.
1 Corinthians 3:1 ESV: But I, brothers, could not address you as spiritual people, but as people of the flesh, as infants in Christ.
- The Natural Person —
1 Corinthians 2:14 ESV: The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.
- The Spiritual Person —
1 Corinthians 2:15 ESV: The spiritual person judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one.
- The Carnal Person —
1 Corinthians 3:1 ESV: But I, brothers, could not address you as spiritual people, but as people of the flesh, as infants in Christ.
Dealing with the Sleeper
- The spiritual battle is won. — spiritually alive in Christ.
- The personal battle is ongoing. — flesh is still present.
Romans 7:17 ESV: So now it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me.

Ephesians 5:18 NASB: And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit.
Acts 1:8 NASB: but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.”
