Take This Job and Love It

Business owner, surrendered as worship, makes an eternal impact

1. Take this job with  

Believe that your current work is filled with divine purpose. 

(Colossians 3:23) Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters 

(Genesis 39:1-2) Now Joseph had been taken down to Egypt. Potiphar, an Egyptian who was one of Pharaoh’s officials, the captain of the guard, bought him from the Ishmaelites who had taken him there. 2 The LORD was with Joseph so that he prospered, and he lived in the house of his Egyptian master. 

The size of the assignment doesn’t dictate your effort towards that assignment.

2. Take this job with  

(Ecclesiastes 9:10) Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead,where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom. 

(Genesis 2:15) The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. 

(Colossians 3:24) since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. 

(Genesis 39:7-9) Now Joseph was well-built and handsome, 7 and after a while his master’s wife took notice of Joseph and said, “Come to bed with me!” 8 But he refused. “With me in charge,” he told her, “my master does not concern himself with anything in the house; everything he owns he has entrusted to my care. 9 No one is greater in this house than I am. My master has withheld nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How then could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?” 

(Genesis 39:20-22) But while Joseph was there in the prison, 21 the LORD was with him; he showed him kindness and granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden. 22 So the warden put Joseph in charge of all those held in the prison, and he was made responsible for all that was done there 

3. Take this job:

(Genesis 45:4-5) 4 Then Joseph said to his brothers, “Come close to me.” When they had done so, he said, “I am your brother Joseph, the one you sold into Egypt! 5 And now, do not be distressed and do not be angry with yourselves for selling me here, because it was to save lives that God sent me ahead of you. 

(Genesis 45:7-8) But God sent me ahead of you to preserve for you a remnant on earth and to save your lives by a great deliverance. “So then, it was not you who sent me here, but God. 

Ordinary work, surrendered as worship, makes an eternal impact.

4. Take this job:

(Matthew 5:14-16) “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
