WELCOME HOME – A Study in Ephesians
The Family Values Part 2
(Ephesians 5:1) God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children.
Time spent with God allows us to be more like Him
Imitate his love
Imitate his grace
Imitate his heart for people
(Ephesians 4:2) Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.
(Ephesians 5:2) Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.
1. Imitate God’s
(1 John 3:18) Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.
(Ephesians 5:15-16) Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.
(1 Peter 4:10) Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.
(Romans 12:9-10) Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. 10 Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other
2. Imitate God’s
(Ephesians 4:22-24) throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. 23 Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. 24 Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy.
(Ephesians 5:3-4) Let there be no sexual immorality, impurity, or greed among you. Such sins have no place among God’s people. 4 Obscene stories, foolish talk, and coarse jokes—these are not for you. Instead, let there be thankfulness to God.
(Luke 17:17-19) Jesus asked, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? 18 Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner?” 19 Then he said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made you well.”
(1 Thessalonians 5:18) In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
5 Benefits of Gratitude
1. Reduces Depression
2. Lessens anxiety
3. Supports heart health
4. Relieves stress
5. Improves sleep
3. Imitate God’s
(Ephesians 5:8-9) For once you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord. So live as people of light! 9 For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true.
(John 1:4-5) Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone.5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.
(John 8:12) Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
(Matthew 5:14-16) “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. 15 No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.
(Ephesians 5:1) Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children.
