Legacy Church Core Values

Core Value #1: Jesus is our

(Hebrews 12:1-2 NKJV) Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.

At Legacy Church we are going to point people to Jesus!

Core Value #2: Serving is our

(Matthew 23:11-12) The greatest among you will be your servant. 12 For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.

(Mark 10:45) For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

This is our calling as believers, if Jesus came down from heaven to serve then how much more should we serve others.

(Philippians 2:3-4) Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

We are most like Christ when we serve others in humility

  • When you are serving in Legacy Kids
  • When you are smiling and waving in the parking lot
  • When you are making coffee and setting up banners
  • When you are setting out chairs
  • When you are setting up production gear

Core Value #3: Scripture is our

People Change, Culture Changes, The Word of God remains the same

(Psalm 119:89) Your word, Lord, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens.

We are going to be a church that points people back to scripture.

(Psalm 119:105) Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.

At Legacy we will use the Bible as our guide for all doctrine:

(2 Timothy 3:16-17) All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Core Value #4: Generosity is our

We are most like God when we give.

(John 3:16) For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son.

(Proverbs 3:9–10) Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine

(1 Timothy 6:18–19) Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.

The gift of giving is a spiritual gift that God gives to people

(Romans 12:6-8) We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; 7 if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; 8 if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.

Generosity is a Spirit-given desire to serve God by giving of your material resources, your talent, and your time to further the work of God.

Core Value #5: Community is our

We live in an age where information is prevalent, but community is scarce.

(Proverbs 27:17) As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.

This core value is for community with one another but it also means we pursue the community around us:

  • Where we live
  • Where we work
  • Where we play

We don’t want to just be a “come and see us” church we want to be a “Go and tell” church.

Core Value #6: Excellence is our

(Ecclesiastes 9:10) Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might.

Whatever our hands find to do, we are going to do it with everything we have, to the best of our abilities, for the glory of God.

Core Value #7: Joy is our

(Psalm 118:24) This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.

Joy comes from the Lord.

(Nehemiah 8:10) The joy of the Lord is your strength.
