Breaking Up With The World – John 15:18-27

¹⁷ This is my command: Love each other.

¹⁸ “If hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. ¹⁹ If you belonged to , it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to , but I have chosen you out of . That is why hates you.

The World:

The fallen world system, under the dominion of darkness (the Devil), that we once belonged to.

As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, ² in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air… gratifying the cravings of our flesh…

The church has often erred in two ways…

1. Allowing the degree of separation between the world and the church to get too thin.

__

Homosexuality and gay marriage are not biblical alternatives to the lifelong, monogamous union of one man and one woman called marriage. Neither is cohabitation—when a man and woman live together in a marriage-like relationship without actually being married.

John 3:16

¹⁶ For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

The church has often erred in two ways…

2. Allowing the degree of separation between the church and the world to get too big.
