Small Group Questions

Welcome back to Small Groups! We are so grateful for your intentionality to be in relationship at City Church.

Getting to know you.

  1. Go around in a circle and have everyone share their name and currently their favorite thing to do.
  2. Now go around one more time and have everyone share (in 60 seconds or less) what they’re hoping to see God do in this round of small groups.

Take a moment to go over the small group “top 10.”

What do you think?

Have someone in the group quickly read through the “fill-ins” from Sunday’s message to refresh everyone’s memories. What particular point stood out to you, challenged you, or raised a question for you?

The story of your life.

  1. We looked at City Church’s renewed heartbeat this past Sunday. What makes your heart beat or feel like you are truly alive?

  2. Pastor Kyle mentioned that City Church’s real discipleship plan is people. He discussed how key folks had been there for him to point him back to Christ when he was struggling. Who has been a key person in your life who has pointed you back to obedience to Christ when you were struggling?

Digging deeper in God’s Word.

  1. Truly following Jesus is a lifelong, arduous, narrow road. Though the disciples may not have understood at the time, the Lord clarified this before he died and rose again. Read Luke 14:25-33 and respond to the following prompts and questions.
    1. Have a few members of the group recap the main tenets of the story.

    2. How does this teaching help us manage our expectations of Christianity? Why do you think it’s important?

  2. Read the following verses out loud, one at a time, sharing a truth from each one on what it means (or looks like) to be a disciple of Jesus.
    1. Acts 9:36.

Bringing it home to your life.

  1. Have everyone share one thing that someone else mentioned in this discussion that struck a cord with you.

  2. Pray for one another (preferably men with men and women with women).
