Small Group Questions
What do you think?
- From Sunday’s message, what particular point caught your attention, challenged you, stood out to you, or raised a question for you?
The story of your life.
- Growth is a sign of health and progress. Share about a time when you noticed positive growth of your abilities in a certain area of life, subject, talent, or field. What were the main factors that contributed to that growth?
- On Sunday, we assessed our spiritual growth on a scale from 0-10 using the 4 spiritual growth markers. For those that are comfortable, go around and share which spiritual growth marker you scored yourself the lowest and which you scored the highest.
Digging Deeper.
- The war between the “flesh” and the “spirit” is a constant battle in a Christian’s life. Read Galatians 5:19-23 to recap what the works of the flesh are and what the fruits of the spirit are. Then read Romans 8:1-17 and answer the following questions.
- What does this verse tell you about God? People?
- After reading these verses, is there anything God is calling you to do differently in your approach to the daily battle between the “flesh” and the “spirit”?
- Pastor Obie spoke about how there is wisdom in habitually practicing spiritual disciplines. Read each passage below and discuss which spiritual discipline listed most resonates with you.
- Joshua 1:8.
- Hebrews 10:25.
- Philippians 4:6.
- 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18.
- Matthew 14:23.
- Ephesians 5:17-21.
- Colossians 3:1-2.
- John 13:12-16.
- 2 Peter 3:18.
- Share how you will practically practice one or more of these disciplines better this week. What? When? Where? How? Be specific.
Personal reflection and application.
- Have everyone share one thing someone else said that spoke to you.
- Break up into smaller groups and pray for one another.
