Small Group Questions
Get to Know Each Other.
- Welcome to the first small group of 2022! You made a great choice to commit to be a part of a Biblical community. Have everyone go around the circle/on zoom and share their name, something about themselves, and how they first started coming to City Church.
- Fun and deep ice breaker question: If you could snap your fingers and have any one wish granted with no exceptions, what would it be? OR: What is your superpower?
- Go around again and have every person in the group share one thing they’re hoping to see God accomplish in this upcoming session of Small Groups.
- Read the “Small Group Top 10 List.” You can access it by going on the Church Center App, selecting “groups,” followed by “resources.”
What Do You Think?
What struck a chord with you from last Sunday at City Church?
The Story of Your Life.
- On Sunday, we were reminded of the fact that the Christian life is a marathon with a great reward in the end. In a marathon, it can be easy to lose sight of the reward. What things help you stay on track when it feels like there’s still a long road ahead?
- Share about a goal, project, vocational achievement, or athletic challenge you have worked toward that took a long time to finish. What did you learn from that journey?
Digging Deeper in God’s Word.
- Right after Peter’s famous speech on the Temple steps where over 3000 people got saved in one day, we read the earliest depiction of the Christian Church. Verse 46 specifically says that the believers were gathering in the Temple and in homes. This is one of the foundational verses for the model of having a large gathering followed by smaller, deeper encounters at home. Read about it in Acts 2:42-47.
- Have a few group members recount the story using their own words.
- What does this story tell us about God/people/the Church?
- What other foundational images of church life can be seen in this passage?
- Read Ecclesiastes 4:9-12. Based upon these verses, what might be some prayer goals for this group?
Personal reflection and application.
- Have everyone share one thing someone else mentioned that struck a chord with you from this discussion.
- Take time to pray for each other.
