Small Group Questions

What do you think?

Have a member of the group quickly recap Sunday’s message and read through the fill-ins. What particular point stood out to you, challenged you, or raised a question for you?

The story of your life.

  1. Of all the arguments Pastor Kyle gave for and against God, which one do you find the most helpful convincing? Are your doubts about God mostly intellectual, moral, or experiential?

  2. Despite all these amazing philosophical and scientific reasons to believe in God, we saw how the greatest evidence for the existence of God in the world is a loving Christian. How have you experienced God’s love through a loving Christian?

Digging deeper in God’s Word.

  1. Everyone doubts. One of the earliest stories of a doubting disciple is John the Baptist. As he’s stuck in prison, he begins to question who Jesus is and asks for clarification. Read Luke 7:18-23 and respond to the following prompts/questions.
    1. Have a few members of the group recap the story using their own words.

    2. What does this story tell us about God? Doubts?

    3. In light of this, is there anything you need to do differently?

  2. Perhaps the greatest story of doubts being turned around in the Bible is found in John 20:24-29. Read it out loud together and answer the following questions.
    1. Have a few members of the group recap the story using their own words.

    2. What does this story tell us about God? Doubts?

    3. In light of this, is there anything you need to do differently?

    4. Do you have a “doubting Thomas” moment of your own where God has turned things around for you?

  3. Read the following verses out loud, one at a time. Then share an insight from each one about the existence of God or Christian apologetics.
    1. Psalm 19:1.
