SMALL GROUP QUESTIONS

What do you think?

From this past Sunday’s service, what particular point stood out to you, challenged you, or raised a question for you?

The story of your life.

  1. On Sunday, Pastor Kyle used a tent on stage as an illustration. Have a few members share their favorite tent camping experience. Where did you go and why was it so great?
  2. Pastor Kyle preached on 2 Corinthians 5:1-10 where it likens a “tent” to our temporary nature in this life as opposed to the permanence of a “home” which would be the heavenly hope that awaits us. If you were camping in a tent for an extended period of time, what would be the main luxuries or items from home would you miss the most? Why?

Digging deeper in God’s Word.

  1. The book of Hebrews speaks of how Abraham and his family lived with a faith that looked forward beyond this earthly temporal land toward what the Bible calls “a better country, that is, a heavenly one.” Read Hebrews 11:8-16 and answer the following questions.
    1. What does this passage tell us about God/people?
    2. What insights does this passage offer for us to live in the now while having faith and hope toward a heavenly home?
    3. In light of this, is there anything specifically God is calling you to do differently?
  2. The Bible is full of great verses that remind us of our eternal home to come. Read the verses below one at a time and discuss what insights they provide about the hope we have in heaven.
    1. John 14:2-3.
    2. Ecclesiastes 3:11.
    3. Romans 14:8.
    4. Ecclesiastes 12:7.
    5. 1 John 3:2.
    6. Philippians 3:20-21.

Personal reflection and application.

  1. Have everyone share one thing someone else said that struck a chord with you from this discussion.
  2. Break up into smaller groups and pray for one another (preferably men with men and women with women).
