Small Group Questions

What do you think?

  1. What is the best gift you have ever given or received in your entire life?
  2. What struck a chord with you from Sunday’s service?

The story of your life.

  1. Some friendships and relationships are so close that we can (almost) know what certain people are thinking without speaking to them. Tell about someone in your life who you are frequently on the same mental wavelength with.
  2. On Sunday, we looked at 1 Corinthians 2:6-16 where the Apostle Paul says believers have the mind of Christ. To the extent that God is willing to reveal them to us, this literally means we have access to God’s own thoughts. Many of us can testify to instances when we have felt the Lord supernaturally reveal something to us. Tell about a time when God revealed something to you that was either comforting, preparatory, or otherwise a blessing in your life.

Digging Deeper.

  1. Another place where the Apostle Paul mentions the fact that believers can have the mind of Christ is found in Philippians 2:1-11. Read it together and answer the following questions.
    1. According to this, what does it look like to have the mind of Christ?
    2. What does this tell us about God? People?
    3. How do you sense God wanting you to grow in having the mind of Christ this week?
  2. The Gospels are full of moments where we get glimpses into how Jesus acted, which are a reflection of his thoughts. What insights do the following Gospel passages give us into how Jesus thought? Subsequently, how should we think as Christians? Read each passage one at a time before moving onto the next.
    1. Mark 2:15.
    2. Matthew 6:19-21.
    3. Matthew 9:36.
    4. Matthew 12:46-50.
    5. Matthew 19:13-15.
    6. Matthew 27:11-14.
    7. Luke 19:41-46.
    8. John 11:35-36.
    9. Other than the ones mentioned here, are there any other sections of the Gospels that describe Jesus’ mindset that really speak to you?
    10. In light of all this, is there anything you need to do differently?

Personal reflection and application.

  1. Have everyone share one thing someone else said that resonated with you.
  2. Break up into smaller groups and pray for one another.
