  1. Since we just passed Valentine’s Day, today’s group will be focused on the topic of love. What is the most loving act you have ever witnessed or experienced?
  2. Author Gary Chapman once identified the following categories in his book “The Five Love Languages.” Describe which one speaks the most to you.
    1. Words of affirmation.
    2. Quality time.
    3. Gifts (giving/receiving).
    4. Acts of service.
    5. Physical touch.

Digging Deeper.

  1. The Book of Ruth is one of the most beautiful pictures of love in the Old Testament. Read Ruth 1 and have a few members of the group recap the story in their own words.
    1. What does this story tell us about God? Love? People? You?
  2. Read Ruth 2 and answer the following questions and have a few members of the group recap the story in their own words.
    1. What does this story tell us about God? Love? People? You?
    2. Many have incorrectly assumed that Boaz was only kind to Ruth because he was attracted to her. Ruth 2:22 asserts there were other women also allowed to glean in his field. What lessons about love can be drawn from this?
  3. Read 1 Corinthians 13, the famous “love” chapter in the Bible, and answer the following questions.
    1. What usually strikes you when you hear this passage?
    2. Share how this passage struck you when you read it today.
    3. In light of this, is there anything you need to do differently?
