Small Group Questions

Reminder: This is the final week of small group meetings for the year. Take a moment to talk about what your group will do for your small group party next week.

What do you think?

  1. What struck a chord with you from Sunday’s service?

The story of your life.

  1. Since we just celebrated thanksgiving, have everyone in the group share what they are most thankful for this year.
  2. Who is the most grateful person you know? How have they impacted the way you think?

Digging Deeper.

  1. God’s Word has a lot to say about gratitude and thanksgiving. Today we are going to read several stories that give us insight into how that should look in our lives. Read Luke 17:11-19 and answer the following prompts/questions.
    1. Have a few members of the group recap the main points using their own words.
    2. What does this story tell us about God? People? Gratitude?
  2. Another story in Luke that shows us what a grateful heart looks like is found in Luke 7:36-50. Read it together and answer the following prompts/questions.
    1. Have a few members of the group recap the main points using their own words.
    2. What does this story tell us about God? People? Gratitude?
    3. In light of either this story or the one prior, is there anything you need to do?
  3. Pastor Obie and Joyce talked about communication this past Sunday. Good communication is an essential part of any healthy relationship and miscommunication is an integral part of most unhealthy relationships. What principles of communication can you learn from the following passages?
    1. Ecclesiastes 5:1-2.
    2. Proverbs 10:19.
    3. Proverbs 14:29.
    4. Ephesians 4:29.
    5. James 1:19.
    6. James 3:3-12.

Personal reflection and application.

  1. Have everyone share one thing someone else said that stood out to you from this discussion.
  2. Break up into smaller groups and pray for one another.
