What do you think?

Have someone quickly read over the main points/fill-ins from Sunday’s message. After you’ve refreshed everyone’s memories, share what particular point stood out to you, challenged you, or raised a question for you.

The story of your life.

  1. What major decisions have you made recently or in the past that have significantly impacted your life for the better?

  2. Have you ever experienced confirmation from God regarding a decision you were unsure about? How did you get confirmation and what did you do about your decision?

Digging deeper.

  1. The story of the Rich Young Ruler found in Mark 10:17-27 is that of a wealthy young man asking Jesus what he must do to inherit eternal life. Jesus’ answer faced the rich young ruler with a decision to choose between his wealth or following Jesus. Read the passage and answer the following prompts. 
    1. Have a few people recap the main tenets of the story.

    2. Like the young ruler, we all have things in our lives that fight to pull us away from God’s will. What are some things you do to help you continually choose Christ way over your own?

    3. What does this story tell us about God? People? You?

  2. In Matthew 4:1–11, Jesus faced significant decisions when tempted in the wilderness. Read the passage and answer the following prompts. 
    1. Have a few people recap the main tenets of the passage.

    2. Reflecting on this passage, what principles for decision-making can we draw from Jesus’ response to temptation?
