What Do You Think?

What struck a chord with you from Sunday’s service?

The Story of Your Life.

  1. After going through all of 1 Corinthians, what verses, themes, or concepts have spoken to you the most powerfully?
  2. On Sunday, we looked at what it means to be a “Kingdom-Minded Christian.” What comes to mind for you when you think of that phrase?

Digging Deeper in God’s Word.

  1. The first thing that came up in our study of 1 Corinthians 16 from Sunday was the offering for the impoverished Jerusalem Church. It was a topic that was near and dear to the Apostle Paul’s life for most of his recorded ministry. Keep in mind the context that this happened very shortly after Paul’s conversion. Read Acts 11:27-30 and answer the questions.
    1. What does this tell us about Paul’s commitment to the church in Jerusalem/Judea?
    2. What might this tell us about Kingdom initiative passions that spring up in our own lives?
  2. Paul writes the Corinthian church about this special offering for the Jerusalem Church a second time in 2 Corinthians 8 and 9. Keep in mind that Corinth is in the Region of Achaia and Thessalonica, Berea, and Philippi were to the North in the region of Macedonia. Read 2 Corinthians 8:1-9:15 and answer the following prompts.
    1. Have a few group members recap the main points using their own words.
    2. What does Paul seem to be trying to say to the Corinthians about the generosity of their friends to the North?
    3. What do these verses tell us about God? About being a Kingdom-minded Christian? In light of this, is there anything you need to do differently?
  3. Another aspect of being a Kingdom-minded Christian that came up on Sunday was the topic of hospitality. What insights do the following verses offer us into what it means to be practice this key trait?
    1. Proverbs 31:20.
    2. Matthew 25:40.
    3. Acts 16:13-15.
    4. Romans 12:13.
    5. Romans 16:1-2.
    6. 1 Peter 4:9.
    7. Hebrews 13:1-2.
    8. In light of all these verses, is there anything you need to do differently?

Personal reflection and application.
