TRUST WEEK 2 – TRUSTING A COVENANT GOD

July 6, 2025   /   Mountain Park Church

KEY PASSAGE: Genesis 15:1-20 ESV

“He does not love us if we love Him. He loves us with an unconditional love; therefore, we should love Him. The message of the covenant is one of God’s totally free grace to His people. Of course, it calls for a response of total commitment. But notice the order: God’s covenant love is not the result of our commitment; it is the cause of it. The pattern is, “I will, therefore you should;” not “I will, but only if you will first.” – Sinclair Ferguson (Author

Hebrews 9:15 ESV

15 Therefore He is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, since a death has occurred that redeems them from the transgressions committed under the first covenant.

1. GOD GAVE US A ROBE OFRIGHTEOUSNESS

Isaiah 61:10 ESV

10 I will greatly rejoice in the Lord;
    my soul shall exult in my God,
for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation;
    he has covered me with the robe of righteousness,
as a bridegroom decks himself like a priest with a beautiful headdress,
    and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.

2. GOD GAVE US HISARMOR

Ephesians 6:10-13 ESV

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.

3. JESUS GAVE US HISNAME

Philippians 2:10-11 ESV

10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

4. JESUS GAVE US HISBLOOD

Ephesians 1:7 ESV

In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace,

Revelation 12:11 ESV

11 And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death.

5. JESUS IS OURGUARANTEE FOR EVERY PROMISE

2 Corinthians 1:20 ESV

20 For all the promises of God find their Yes in Him. That is why it is through Him that we utter our Amen to God for His glory.

6. THECROSS IS OUR SYMBOL

7. IS OUR COVENANT MEAL

1 Corinthians 11:23-28 ESV

23 For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, 24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” 25 In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” 26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.

27 Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty concerning the body and blood of the Lord. 28 Let a person examine himself, then, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup.
