Icebreaker: If you could choose anyone to pray for you daily, who would you trust most with the task?

Sermon Title: “Sacred Eavesdropping” – John 17:1-8

Group Discussion:
Read John 17:20, Romans 8:34, & 1 John 2:1 – Jesus prays for us. How should knowing that Jesus
prays for us personally impact the way we view life, our faith journey, our relationship with Him, and
our relationship with others? Discuss how this can strengthen us in moments of doubt or sin.

Read John 14:9-11 & John 17:3 – Jesus wants us to have eternal life: He is the exact representation
of the Father. Eternal life is about knowing the Lord personally: How does this truth resonate with
you? How should this shape the way we envision eternal life while also as an invitation to a personal
relationship with Jesus today? Discuss ways to openly share this opportunity with others.

Read John 3:1-2 & John 17:6-8 – Jesus wants us to have faith: Even Nicodemus… What do these
passages reveal about the kind of faith Jesus desires? How can we nurture a more personal
understanding of Jesus and what He wants for us? Discuss ways we can embrace these truths and
share with others the fact that salvation is a gift from God that requires a personal response.
Read John 1:1, John 6:68, & Romans 10:17 – Grow in our faith: The Word – Discuss practical ways
we can prioritize hearing and engaging with His words: personally, in our families, and with others.

Read Luke 6:47-48, John 15:14-16 & John 16:28-30 – Grow in our faith: Obedience – Obedience is
less about following rules and more about trusting Jesus and keeping Him centered. Discuss
practical ways we can choose obedience over self-will while also encouraging others to do the same.

Read Hebrews 11:1 & 1 John 5:13-15 – Grow in our faith: Confidence – In what practical ways can
we cultivate a confident assurance in our personal faith while encouraging others to do the same?

Action Steps: (1) This week, when you face a challenge, pause and remind yourself: “Jesus is
