A. Understanding the Nature of Messianic Psalms

1. Messiah is seen as sharing in experiences
2. Often expressed thru the personal experience of the

    • In this way the Psalmist Messiah
    • In this way Messiah identifies with us

3. These Psalms at times point to someone than man

    • 2:8 — called God’s Son Who will possess all nations on earth
    • 45:6,7 — called “God” with an eternal throne and reign
    • 110:1 — referred to as David’s “Lord”

4. In these Psalms lies the mystery of the

B. The Progression of This Psalm

1. Resilient faith (1-5)

    • Suffering that feels by God (1)
    • from God in the midst of suffering (2)
    • Reaffirmation in the very of God — Holy (3) c
    • of God’s faithfulness to past generations (4,5)

2. Crushing mistreatment (6-18)

3. Confident prayer (19-24)

    • Messiah appeals for (19-21)
    • He sets His heart on testifying to God’s (22-24)

4. Triumphant praise (25-31)

    • A great assembly follows the (25,26)
    • An assembly of all the families of the ! (27)
    • It is the Kingdom of our (28) (cf Rv 11:15)
    • Assurance of ! (29)
