Religious People Need the Gospel (2)

Paul’s gospel is a powerful gospel because it can save all who believe, Jew or Gentile (Romans 1:16-17).
Question: who needs this gospel?
1:18-32: those who know of God from creation but the truth about him.
2:1-11: Those who have moral standards by which they others yet fail to observe them themselves.
2:12-3:8: All people who will be judged by whether given the written law or not.
Written law or no written law, all who sin face God’s judgment, 2:12-13
Why? You must not just know the law, but , 13
This brings up some questions, which Paul now answers:
Question: what about Gentiles who do not have the law? 2:14-16
Gentiles have a law, so can be judged by the law
Not a written law but an inner law
It is a law written
This law is witnessed by their
This law causes them to or themselves
Question: what about Jews who have and know the Law?, 2:17-24
Knowing the law is a great thing, 18, 20
It reveals what is , 18

Teaching the law is commendable, 19-20
Teaching without personally not only breaks the law but God, 21-24
Question: doesn’t my circumcision exempt me from judgment? 2:25-29
Circumcision is of value only if accompanied by to the law, 25a

In fact, if the uncircumcised obey the law they will be considered circumcised, 26
If they keep the law, they will those who don’t, circumcised or not, 27
Why?
A true Jew is not what many think, 28
True Jewishness is not a matter of appearances
It is not about outward, physical circumcision

True Jewishness is about circumcision , performed by the Spirit
Inner circumcision gains . Man’s praise doesn’t matter.

That’s a question.
CONCLUSION
based on whether or not they have sinned.
Those who do not have the written law have the law in their hearts and will be judged by whether they keep that inner law.
Those who have the written law will be judged by whether they keep that written law.
Jews and Gentiles will be . Both groups of people so both groups of people will face God’s .
What about you?
Jewish? If so, you’ve been privileged to be given the written law. Have you fully kept it? God will judge you based on your obedience to the law, not because of your special relationship to him.
You need the gospel. You need to repent of your sin and turn to Jesus, believe on Him as God’s Messiah, and put your faith in what he did on the cross for your sin to have God’s forgiveness.
Non-Jewish? You may not have been given or every seen the written law of God but you know the law in your heart. Your conscience is convicting you that you have sinned. You will experience God’s judgement for violating the law in your heart.
You need the gospel. You need to repent of your sin and turn to Jesus, believe on Him as God’s chosen Savior, and put your faith in what he did on the cross for your sin to have God’s forgiveness.
All people, Jews and non-Jews, need to be saved from the penalty of their sins by receiving Jesus as their Savior.
