INTRODUCTION
What’s the best gift you’ve ever received?
This message is about a gift I’m sure you’d like to receive.
The promise given:
Isaiah 9:6–7 (NASB95)
The promised One will bring peace.
Who could this promised one be?
Look how he’s described:
Wonderful Counselor
Mighty God
Eternal Father
Prince of Peace
We are also told that his peace lasts forever. There is no end to it.
This could not describe any earthly ruler or human being. Only the Promised One – the Messiah – only Jesus, the perfect fits this description.
The promise fulfilled:
This is exactly what the New Testament tells us. Jesus, God in the flesh, came to earth fulfilling the promise of Isaiah 9.

Notice the content of Jesus’ message:
Notice instruction in Jesus’ message: “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
Jesus came preaching peace, but linking that peace with and the coming of the Kingdom of Heaven.
Jesus was the Promised One – the Prince of Peace.

Do we need this promised blessing today?
Cessation from war must still be the deep desire of millions of people around the world today who are swept up in warfare.
But the lack of personal peace is what haunts most people today.
They aren’t at peace
They aren’t at peace .
They aren’t at peace .
The result is greater conflict, more medication, more therapy, more rage or depression, more broken relationships, and so on.
How do we get this promised blessing of peace?
Peace comes through obtained through faith in what Jesus did on the cross (recall Isaiah 53)

CONCLUSION
The Prince of Peace has come. We can have peace with God through him. We can have peace with others through him. We can have inner peace through him.

All we need to do to begin a life of greater peace is to come to Jesus. We must repent and turn from our sin, receive Jesus as our Savior, our new master (Lord), and peace-giver, then begin to live with our eyes on God, our heart filled with his Spirit, and our mind fixed on God and his promises.
