John 2:1-12

Following Jesus means

John 1:51

“Very truly I tell you (y’all), you (y’all) will see ‘heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending on’ the Son of Man.”

Matt 3:16

16 As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him.

John 2:1-2

On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding.

The Third Day:

Matt 16:21

…he must be killed and on  be raised to life.

Matt 17:23

They will kill him, and on  he will be raised to life…

Matt 20:19

On  he will be raised to life!

Luke 9:22

…he must be killed and on  be raised to life.

Luke 18:33

On  he will rise again…

Revelation 19:6-8 (We read of the Wedding of the Lamb)

Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting:

“Hallelujah!
For our Lord God Almighty reigns.
Let us rejoice and be glad
and give him glory!
For the wedding of the Lamb has come,
and his bride has made herself ready.
Fine linen, bright and clean,
was given her to wear.”

(Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of God’s holy people.)

John 2:2

and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding.

“Marriage was ordained by God in Eden and here, the Savior, for all time set His stamp of approval on it…Observe that Christ was invited to be there. Christ’s presence is essential to a happy marriage. The marriage where there is no place for our Lord and Savior can not truly experience the blessings of God.” A. Pink (Italics mine)

Revelation 3:20

20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.

John 2:3

When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no more wine.”

John 2:4

“Woman, why do you involve me?” Jesus replied. “My hour has not yet come.”

John 2:4

Jesus replied. “ has not yet come.”

John 7:30 – My hour had not yet come

John 8:20 – My hour had not yet come

John 12:23

23 Jesus replied, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.

John 17:1

“Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you.

His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”

Matt 15:1-2

Then some Pharisees and teachers of the law came to Jesus from Jerusalem and asked, “Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders? They don’t wash their hands before they eat!”

John 2:7

Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water”; so they filled them to the brim.

John 2:8

Water looked on the divine and, knowing not what else to do, became wine.

John 2:8-10

__

“Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.”

__

Jesus is the best wine, served last.

__

Matthew 26:27-29

27 Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. 28 This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. 29 I tell you, I will not drink from this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.”

John 2:11

11 What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs through which he revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him.

Ephesians 5:18

18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit…
