SMALL GROUP QUESTIONS

This will be our last formal small group time. Next week will be your group’s celebration. Take a minute to plan what you would like to do.

What do you think?

From Sunday’s message, what particular point stood out to you, challenged you, or raised a question for you?

The story of your life.

On Sunday, Pastor Obie talked about how to be a church on mission. Tell about a time in your life when you really felt like you were “on mission.” What lessons from that time might you apply to your life today?

Digging deeper in God’s Word.

  1. Throughout our series in the Book of Acts, we have seen a lot of movement. Jesus moved from risen to ascended back to Heaven. The Holy Spirit moved, got sent into every believer, and 3000 got saved on the first day of the Christian Church. Last Sunday we saw the Holy Spirit move Peter and John to heal a lame beggar. The rest of Acts is one physical and spiritual movement of the Gospel after another. One of the key ways God moves in our lives is through partnership in ministry. In light of Pastor Obie’s comment about making margin in our lives for ministry, let’s go over 1st Corinthians 12. We read it a few weeks back but let’s read the entire chapter again. Once you’ve read it, respond to the following prompts/questions.
    1. Have a few members of the group share some of the key tenets of the passage.

    2. What does this tell us about God/how He uses us in ministry?

    3. In what ways can you make a bit more margin for ministry in your life?

  2. Another big idea that emerged from Sunday’s message was allowing big moments in our lives to become platforms for the Gospel. One great example of an individual who allowed his platform to become Jesus’ was John the Baptist. Read John the Baptist. He was followed by thousands as one who paved the way for Jesus (he was also his cousin), led a revival, and literally Baptized the Lord. When the time came, John willingly gave up his following and led them to Christ. Read John 3:22-36 and answer the following prompts/questions.
    1. Have a few members of the group share some of the key tenets of the story.

    2. What does this tell us about God/using our platform for the Gospel?

    3. In what ways might you use the big and small events of your life to give a better platform for the Gospel?

  3. The following verses each offer different perspectives on what it looks like to share the Gospel. Read them out loud, one at a time and share an insight from each on how to represent Jesus well in everyday life.

Personal reflection and application.

  1. Have everyone share one thing someone else shared from today’s discussion that struck a chord with you.

  2. Pray for one another (preferably men with men and women with women).
