Why Men Matter
June 15, 2025 / Oasis Community ChurchGod’s Design: Men Matter
Men are not optional. They are essential to healthy families, strong churches, and flourishing societies.
- “Being a male is a matter of birth. Being a man is a matter of choice.”
— Edwin Louis Cole
Without men living out their role society crumbles.

A fatherless society is one destined for destruction
In a world that often diminishes or devalues masculinity, Scripture calls men to rise—not in pride or dominance, but in strength, character, love, and spiritual responsibility.

Redeemed Weakness: God’s Grace Makes the Difference
The Bible is not the story of perfect men—it’s the story of a perfect God using imperfect men for His glory.
- Men don’t need to be flawless; They need to be faithful. Click to add your own note
2 Corinthians 12:9 – “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

God made men to be Providers
- After the fall, Adam was still expected to provide — now with hardship. God didn’t remove the responsibility; He deepened it. It’s not a curse to work — it’s a calling to provide with honor.
1 Timothy 5:8 “But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever”
The Sacrifices of Men: Carriers of Heavy Burdens
Let’s be honest—men often do things no one sees, no one thanks them for, and no one else wants to do.
- “The measure of a man is not what he gets from his family, but what he gives to it.” — Unknown
John 15:13 – “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.
Colossians 3:23 – “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.”

1 Corinthians 11:1 Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ
Men are called to be Punishers of unrighteousness (Disciplinarian)
Though the word “punisher” can carry harsh tones, the biblical role here is more accurately seen as the disciplinarian—one who corrects in love and upholds justice. Discipline is a form of love and stewardship.
Hebrews 12:7 “Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children. For what children are not disciplined by their father?
Prov 20:7 The righteous man walks in his integrity; his children are blessed after him.”

From Genesis to Revelation, God calls men to step forward, not shrink back.
1 Kings 2:2 – “Be strong, therefore, and show yourself a man.”
1 Corinthians 16:13 – “Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.”
Conclusion: Celebrate the Calling
Let’s not just honor fathers today—we celebrate God’s design and purpose for men.
Let’s reject the world’s low view of masculinity and embrace the biblical standard of manhood—humble, strong, loving, and faithful.
Psalm 112:1 – “Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who greatly delights in his commandments!”
1 Timothy 6:11 – “You, O man of God… pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness.”
Final Charge
Men, act like men.
Not with bravado, but with boldness.
Not to dominate, but to serve.
Not because you have it all together—but because God’s grace is enough.
Happy Father’s Day!
