Flourish: Spirit, Soul, Body

John 10:10   The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

Functioning is about doing; Flourishing is about being

1 Thess 5:23 May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.

Flourishing starts with connection not performance. A flourishing spirit isn’t the result of us “doing more” for God — it’s about being more with God.

John 15:5 — “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you abide in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit…………… Apart from me you can do nothing.

What can you do apart from God?

Flourishing starts with roots, not results. How is root system?  What soil are you planted in?

Galatians 5:16-23 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery;20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

It’s not about fixing everything around you. It’s about strengthening what’s inside you.

“I came that you might have life—and have it to the full.” (John 10:10) That full life starts in your spirit
