Just say the Word
July 13, 2025 / Oasis Community ChurchEventually, walking across the room means sharing the good news clearly and courageously—trusting God for the results.
Words Change Everything
You’ve probably heard the phrase: “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.” Yeah… that’s a lie.

Prov 18:21 The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.
- “Eventually, you have to say something. At some point, silence is not golden—it’s just plain disobedience.” —Bill Hybels
How speaking about hope in Jesus impacts people:
Romans 10:13–17 “For ‘everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’ How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?… Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.”
Why it is so important. Go into the world and preach the gospel. There is not plan B
- We speak because of the Urgency of the Message
Why is it so urgent?
John 3:16-18 ESV“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life,” “For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God,”
Ephesians 2.12 remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world.
Apart from Jesus, there is no life. A person may be existing, but they are not really living.
1 John 5.11-12 And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.
Romans Road of Salvation: using Romans as a tool to show people the need for Jesus.
Rom 3:10 As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one;
Rom 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death,…….
Rom 10:9-10, 17
Romans 10:14: “How can they hear without someone preaching to them?”
The word “preaching” here doesn’t mean you need a pulpit. It means proclaiming, sharing, communicating.
Charles Spurgeon said: “If sinners be damned… let them leap to hell over our dead bodies. Let no one go unwarned and unprayed for.”
- There is no plan B.

Rom 6:23 The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life.
It is not hard to be saved.
Romans 10:9 “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
It is easy, but costly. My life for His. It is not just say a prayer, it is tocommit your life to his Jesus LORDSHIP.
Think about Jesus and the thief on the cross. He simply said, “Remember me.” Jesus replied, “Today you’ll be with Me in paradise.”
We speak because it is urgent. We share because we are capable….

There is a moment when silence is disobedience.
Acts 8:34 The eunuch asked Philip, “Tell me, please, who is the prophet talking about, himself or someone else?” 35“Then Philip began with that very passage of Scripture and told him the good news about Jesus.” –
Bill Hybels reminds us: “When you walk with the Spirit, opportunities tend to show up. All you have to do is be available.”
God prepares hearts, and then invites us to step in.
So the question becomes:
- Are you close enough to God to hear His nudge?
- Are you ready to be used by God to share His Hope.
- Are you willing to look awkward to be obedient? Click to add your own note

- When and How to Invite Someone to Faith
Romans 10:13: “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
The invitation is for everyone. No one is too far. No one is too broken. And no one should leave your presence wondering how to respond.
Here’s a simple framework to use when that door opens:
- Affirm God’s love and their value Click to add your own note
- Remind them of their current spiritual state. Without God we are lost and spiritually dead. Click to add your own note
- Explain the benefits of Jesus’ death and resurrection. Jesus made a way. Click to add your own note
- Offer the chance to respond—right then Click to add your own note
You might say:
- “Would you like to receive what Jesus offers?”
- “Would you like to begin a relationship with Him today?”
- “Can I help you pray that right now?” Click to add your own note
D.L. Moody once said: “There is no better evangelist in the world than the Holy Spirit.”
Let Him do the heavy lifting. You just say the words.
- Conclusion: Just Say the Word
It starts with a walk.
Then it becomes a friendship.
Then it leads to a conversation.
And finally—by God’s grace—it becomes a moment of transformation.
You don’t have to be perfect.
You don’t have to be impressive.
You just have to speak up when the moment comes.
“Faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.” – Romans 10:17
So Church… just say the word.
