Scripture: Acts 2:40-42 (NKJV)
Date: January 19, 2025
Speaker: Pastor Tom Van Kempen
Acts 2:17 (NKJV) And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams.
Acts 2:40-41 (NKJV) And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, Be saved from this perverse generation. Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them.
I. I dream of a church that

Luke 15:1-2 (NKJV) Then all the tax collectors and the sinners drew near to Him to hear Him. 2 And the Pharisees and scribes complained, saying, “This Man receives sinners and eats with them.”

II. I dream of a church that
Acts 2:42 (NKJV) And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.
1. Like a
1 Peter 2:2 (GW) Desire God’s pure word as newborn babies desire milk. Then you will grow in your salvation.
2. Like a
Deuteronomy 8:3 (NKJV) So He humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord.
Romans 10:17 (NKJV) So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
3. Like a adult
Hebrews 5:11-14 (NLT). There is much more we would like to say about this, but it is difficult to explain, especially since you are spiritually dull and don’t seem to listen. 12 You have been believers so long now that you ought to be teaching others. Instead, you need someone to teach you again the basic things about God’s word. You are like babies who need milk and cannot eat solid food. 13 For someone who lives on milk is still an infant and doesn’t know how to do what is right. 14 Solid food is for those who are mature, who through training have the skill to recognize the difference between right and wrong.
III. I dream of a church that is

Proverbs 18:24 (NKJV) A man who has friends must himself be friendly, But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
2.
Psalm 133 (NKJV) Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious oil upon the head, Running down on the beard, The beard of Aaron, Running down on the edge of his garments. It is like the dew of Hermon, Descending upon the mountains of Zion; For there the Lord commanded the blessing—Life forevermore.

1 Timothy 3:14-15 (ERV) I am writing this to you. . . so that. . . you will know how people should live in the family of God. That family is the church of the living God.
