Making and Maturing Disciples: God’s Story

We often study a few verses of scripture or a section at a time.  But, what about the big picture of the Bible?  What we call around Redeemer, “God’s story.”  How does the whole of the Bible cohere as one divine narrative of God’s plan for history?  This morning we will consider that as we trace the theme of the kingdom of God throughout the Bible.  We will see that from Genesis to Revelation, God is bringing to pass what Jesus prayed for in Matthew 6:10 “Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”

For Spiritual Conversation:

  • Put the Biblical storyline, “God’s story,” in your own words. Why is it so important to understand “your story” in light of “God’s story”? Why do we need to do Biblical Theology and be aware of how God’s plan works out through history as we read and interpret the Bible?

  • Of the options below which will you pursue in 2025 and why?
  • Select – The Five-Day Bible Reading Plan and commit to reading through the Bible this year.
  • Actively use – The New City Catechism to learn and rehearse the doctrines of the Christian
