“Humility, the place of entire dependence on God, is, from the very nature of things, the first duty and the highest virtue of the creature, and the root of every virtue. And so pride, or the loss of this humility, is the root of every sin and evil.” – Andrew Murray
The of true spiritual humility is knowing whose we are and our in belonging to Him.
Our is to empty ourselves of ourselves so that Jesus Christ can fill the empty space and live His life through us.

If humility made the ministries of John the Baptist and Jesus powerful and effective, why would it be any different for us?
How can we grow in true spiritual humility?
Aim to put others before yourself every single day……at home…among the members of your family……at work…among your co-workers……at church…serving your brothers and sisters in Christ……and in the world…serving those who are lost and in-need.
Here are some self-reflection questions based on John 3:22–30, a passage where John the Baptist reaffirms his role in relation to Jesus and expresses joy in Jesus’ increasing ministry:
-
Do I find joy in pointing others to Christ, even if it means stepping out of the spotlight?
(Like John, am I content to be a servant and not the center?)
-
Where in my life might I be seeking recognition that should rightly belong to God?
-
How do I respond when others succeed or receive attention that I desire?
(Am I envious, or do I celebrate their growth?)
-
Am I clear about my purpose and calling, like John was?
(How well do I know what role God has given me in His story?)
-
Can I honestly say, “He must increase, but I must decrease”?
(What would decreasing look like in my attitude, actions, or ambitions?)
-
What areas of pride or self-importance might be preventing me from fully honoring Jesus?
-
Am I willing to let go of influence, platform, or personal goals for the sake of God’s kingdom?
-
Do I rejoice when people turn to Jesus, even if it’s not through me or my ministry?
-
Have I ever confused my work for God with my relationship with God?
-
What would it look like today to humbly prepare the way for Christ in someone else’s life?
