Definition
- Spiritual Blessing = a beneficial situation experienced because God the Father has shown favor to the recipient in Christ, the Son, by His grace, according to His purpose, for His glory, through His Holy Spirit.
All spiritual blessings are undeserved but freely given!
Ephesians 1:4
Let’s break it down:
We could word it like this:
God chose me in eternity past to be set apart and free of sin, guilt, shame, and condemnation, so I can be in His presence and have a relationship with Him.
Ephesians 1:5
Let’s break it down:
We could word it like this:
Motivated by love, the Father determined beforehand to legally take possession of you and me, to be our Father, legally making us His sons and daughters through Jesus Christ because He wanted to!
Why did the Father need to do this?
We left Him in the Fall and went to another father (Genesis 3)
God the Father’s plan before time began was to make you His child, legally adopting you from your former father, the devil, by sacrificing His only begotten Son, Jesus.
How do we this adoption?
- At His predetermined time, the Father rescues us through Jesus Christ!
He comes to you!
- He leaves the 99 (already rescued) sheep to pursue the 1 lost sheep.
You receive a new .
You receive a new – to tell others they can be rescued.
- We don’t know who will be rescued so we treat everyone like they will be.
Reflection Questions:
- Have I been rescued by the Father and adopted into His family/
- Do I live like I have been rescued and adopted?
- Am I telling others they can be rescued too?
