I. Introduction

A. You can’t put your hope in something that you know is !

B. Mark 16:8a (NLT) The women fled from the tomb, trembling and bewildered, and they said nothing to anyone because they were too frightened.

C. “It’s extremely strange, and extremely interesting, that at no stage do the resurrection narratives in the Bible mention the future hope of the Christian.” (N. T. Wright)

D. I Corinthians 15:55 (NLT) “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?”

E. Matthew 28:8 (NLT) The women ran quickly from the tomb. They were very frightened but also filled with great joy, and they rushed to give the disciples the angel’s message.

F. Easter meant that these first followers of Jesus had a whole lot of to do!

G. John 20:16-17 (NLT) 16“Mary!” Jesus said. She turned to him and cried out, “Rabboni!” (which is Hebrew for “Teacher”). 17“Don’t cling to me,” Jesus said, “for I haven’t yet ascended to the Father. But go find my brothers and tell them that I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.”

H. These first followers of Jesus were stunned about Jesus being alive because they understood the enormous to them that this would entail.

I. The initial message of the resurrection was not, “Christ is risen! Now you have immortality!” It was, “Christ is risen! Now you have a super dangerous for your life!”

J. “My now has !”

K. Jesus taught that your does have !

L. Jesus says, “Your life have meaning! And if you put Me in the center of your life, and begin to fully follow Me, you will begin to understand what your and purpose in life is!”

M. Jesus wasn’t the on the cross! He was the !

N. I Peter 1:3 (NAS) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
