A. Spiritual transformation begins when we begin to arrange our lives around the practices arranged His life around!

II. How to Be People of the Book

A. The greatest ambition of every Israelite male was to become a , to become someone who taught this Book.

1. If a scroll was considered to be part of the Book—Genesis, Exodus, etc.—the Israelites believed it was a record of the of .

Deuteronomy 17:18-19 (NLT) 18“When he sits on the throne as king, he must copy for himself this body of instruction on a scroll in the presence of the Levitical priests. 19He must always keep that copy with him and read it daily as long as he lives. That way he will learn to fear the LORD his God by obeying all the terms of these instructions and decrees.

1. Ephesians 5:25-27 (NLT) 25For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her 26to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word. 27He did this to present her to himself as a glorious church without a spot or wrinkle or any other blemish. Instead, she will be holy and without fault.
