I. Introduction

A. was His plan to change the world.

B. Matthew 28:18-20 (NLT) ¹⁸Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. ¹⁹Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. ²⁰Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

II. Why Living in Community Matters So Much

A. Jesus is uniquely in His community.

1. Matthew 18:20 (NLT) “For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them.”

2. Hebrews 10:24-25 (NLT) ²⁴Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. ²⁵And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.

B. Community spiritual drift in our lives.

1. Proverbs 27:17 (NIV) As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.

C. Community is where we find .

1. Genesis 3:10 (NLT) He replied, “I heard you walking in the garden, so I hid. I was afraid because I was naked.”

2. James 5:16a (NLT) Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.

D. Community is where we to love like Jesus loved.

1. John 15:12 (NLT) “This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you.”

2. John 13:35 (NLT) “Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.”

3. Matthew 4:18-22 (NLT) ¹⁸One day as Jesus was walking along the shore of the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers—Simon, also called Peter, and Andrew—throwing a net into the water, for they fished for a living. ¹⁹Jesus called out to them, “Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!” ²⁰And they left their nets at once and followed him. ²¹A little farther up the shore he saw two other brothers, James and John, sitting in a boat with their father, Zebedee, repairing their nets. And he called them to come, too. ²²They immediately followed him, leaving the boat and their father behind.
