The and of God’s Word (Nehemiah 8)
- The Bible is God’s love letter to us. It is the revelation of God, breathed by the Spirit of God, to help us understand the person of God.
- Happiness is the absence of problems. Joy is the presence of God’s peace in spite of our problems.
- Reverence the truth, develop a hunger for it, and God will do a work in you.
Confession: Getting with God (Nehemiah 9)
- Take responsibility for your own personal sins and recognize/acknowledge the sins of your family.
- Do not bother to ask God to deliver you from the mess you are in if you are not willing to repent of the sin that made the mess.
- Confession and worship go hand in hand.
Signs of (Nehemiah 10)
- Your spiritual identity should be seen in your everyday life.
- Giving is a discipline of the faith because our human nature is instinctively greedy and materialistic.
- Continually look for ways you can give of your time, treasure, and talents.

- Why was confession so important to the Israelites? Why is it so important for us today? In what ways can confession and repentance impact our lives, our families, our church?
- Why is it important to know that the sins of past generations do not define you? Read John 8:36 and be reminded that, as a believer in Jesus, you are set free.
- What evidence in your everyday life shows that your identity is in Christ?
- Read the following verses: John 1:12, John 3:16, 1 Corinthians 1:4, Galatians 2:20, Ephesians 5:2, James 1:5, James 1:17. What do these verses say about God’s generosity?
- What are ways that you are being intentional about the giving of your time, treasure, and talents? Are you lacking in any of those areas?
Pray about it: Meditate on God’s Word (Nehemiah 7-10) and this week’s message.
Adoration: What can I praise God for in light of what this teaches me?
Confession: What sin can I confess because of what this teaches me?
Thanksgiving: What can I thank God for in light of what he has done?
Supplication: What do I need to ask of God in order to grow in light of this?
