Was there something you had never heard before or something you had a question about? Why do so many people believe they are good? Why do you think people believe their own merit satisfies Gods’ view of sin? How does understanding verses like Romans 3:10, 3:23, 7:18, and Ecclesiastes 7:20 change your perspective? The rich young man’s god and idol was his great wealth. Before coming to Christ, what were your gods and idols? Do you still struggle with putting them ahead of your love and devotion to Jesus? Are there times where you feel God owes you? Explain. How does the reality that ‘God does not owe you, but He owns you’ change how you live your life? We are not to hold God to promises that He never kept. What would be an example of a way that we might do this? What does it mean to say that God’s grace is unmerited favor? What does it mean to you that Jesus paid the ultimate price that you may have life and experience Heaven? Both passages of scripture we studied today ended with the great paradox which is, “The last will be first and the first will be last.” What is Jesus’ point here? Pray about it: Meditate on God’s Word (Matthew 19:16-30, 20:1-16) and this week’s message. Adoration: What can I praise God for in light of what this teaches me? Confession: What sin can I confess because of what this teaches me? Thanksgiving: What can I thank God for in light of what he has done? Supplication: What do I need to ask of God in order to grow in light of this? DID YOU KNOW? Double click a sentence in your note above to highlight it or add your own note below it.
