Sermon Talks
- What caught your attention in this week’s message? Was there something you had never heard before or something you had a question about?
- What has been the best part to this new year so far? If you could change anything, what would it be and why?
- Read the following verses talking about God’s faithfulness: Psalm 36:5, Lamentations 3:22-23, Revelation 19:11. List some ways that God has been faithful to you.
- How does holding on to past failures keep us from seeing the work God is doing in and through us?
- An anonymous author once said, “Repentance is a posture because it’s not about fleeing but clinging. If I am not actively clinging to God, I will be clinging to self. This is the essence of sin: choosing self over God.”
- How would you respond to this quote?
- Why is it important to identify the sin when confessing to the Lord?
- How does regular confessing sin to the Lord affect your relationship with Him?
- Think of something that you are really passionate about. What is it that makes you so passionate? What keeps you so passionate? What can help you have a genuine passion for Jesus?
- When we talked about returning to your first love, we were referring to the initial passion you had for Jesus. How can you limit the distractions around you that can cause you to lose sight of that first love? What can you do to increase that passion for Jesus?
Pray about it: Meditate on God’s Word (Revelation 2:5, Acts 3:19, Hebrews 12:1) and this week’s message.
Adoration: What can I praise God for in light of what this teaches me?
Confession: What sin can I confess because of what this teaches me?
Thanksgiving: What can I thank God for in light of what he has done?
Supplication: What do I need to ask of God in order to grow in light of this?
