Sermon Talks
- Read Romans 9
- What caught your attention in this week’s message? Was there something you had never heard before or something you had a question about?
- Many people wonder, “If God is love, why doesn’t He save everyone?” God is more than exclusively love; He is also holy, just, righteous, etc. God is all of His attributes. Therefore, sin cannot go unpunished. Take a moment to discuss some of the attributes of God that lead to His righteous judgment of sin:
- The holiness of God: He is perfect and set apart from His creation.
- The justice of God: all of God’s judgments are infinitely and perfectly just.
- The wrath of God: God’s moral character leads Him to judge and punish unrighteousness.
- The jealousy of God: God will not share our passion and affection with anyone or anything else.
- How does understanding God’s covenant to Abraham (Genesis 12:1-3), Isaac (Genesis 21:12; 26:3-4) and Jacob (Genesis 28:14-15), help us better grasp His character as it relates to Romans 9:13? How does this relate to Luke 14:26?
- As Christians, why is it important to keep our eyes on Israel, in particular, their relationship to neighboring countries such as Iran and Russia? What is the significance of the current fighting between Israel and Iran?
- Everyone is made in God’s image but not everyone is one of His children. Are you a child of God? If so, how do you know?
- Allow the Holy Spirit to guide you in a time of prayer.
Pray about it: Meditate on God’s Word (Romans 9) and this week’s message.
Adoration: What can I praise God for in light of what this teaches me?
Confession: What sin can I confess because of what this teaches me?
Thanksgiving: What can I thank God for in light of what he has done?
Supplication: What do I need to ask of God in order to grow in light of this?
