(14) One day the disciples of John the Baptist came to Jesus and asked him, “Why don’t your disciples fast like we do and the Pharisees do?” (15) Jesus replied, “Do wedding guests mourn while celebrating with the groom? Of course not. But someday the groom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast.

(a) It’s a common practice for Disciples of Jesus Christ.

(b) Fasting is a necessary act for Followers of Jesus.

(1) Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted there by the devil. (2) For forty days and forty nights he fasted and became very hungry. (3) During that time the devil came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become loaves of bread.” (4) But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say, ‘People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

Man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.

(a) It’s a common practice for Disciples of Jesus Christ.

(b) Fasting is a necessary act for Followers of Jesus.

(c) Fasting is a romantic gesture for a Lover of Jesus.

(1) Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.

(11) It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.

– The Body of Christ in this community would be united for the purpose of seeing the dead in Christ, be raised to new life in Christ.

– The Body of Christ would seek after the true presence of God above all else.

– Columbia County would be a launching pad for a great awakening in the Body of Christ.
