7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
1 Samuel 16:7
If we are operating in the GIFTS without the FRUIT there is a problem. The condition of our HEART matters greatly to God.
For it is time for judgement to begin with the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not respect, believe, or obey the Word of God.
1 Peter 4:17
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding
Proverbs 9:10
THE FEAR OF THE LORD causes us to make decisions based off of God’s approval and not man’s.
These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship is a farce, for they teach man-made ideas as commands from God.
Matthew 15:8-9
It’s not what goes into your mouth that defiles you; you are defiled by the words that come out of your mouth.
Matthew 15:11
Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.
Luke 6:45
The Lord is at the head of the column. He leads them with a shout. This is his mighty army, and they follow his orders. The day of the Lord is an awesome, terrible thing. Who can possibly survive? That is why the Lord says, “Turn to me now, while there is time. Give me your hearts. Come with fasting, weeping, and mourning. Don’t tear your clothing in your grief, but REND your HEARTS instead.” Return to the Lord your God, for he is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. He is eager to relent and not punish.
Joel 2:11-13
To REND our heart means: To TEAR AWAY from something.
My [only] sacrifice [acceptable] to God is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart [broken with sorrow for sin, thoroughly penitent], O God, You will not despise.

John 5:24
Repentance is a way to express a desire to change future behavior.
But a person must [prayerfully] examine himself [and his relationship to Christ], and only when he has done so should he eat of the bread and drink of the cup. 29 For anyone who eats and drinks [without solemn reverence and heartfelt gratitude for the sacrifice of Christ], eats and drinks a judgment on himself if he does not recognize the body [of Christ].
1 Corinthians 11:28-29
As they were eating, Jesus took some bread and blessed it. Then he broke it in pieces and gave it to the disciples, saying, “Take this and eat it, for this is my body.”27 And he took a cup of wine and gave thanks to God for it. He gave it to them and said, “Each of you drink from it, 28 for this is my blood, which confirms the covenant between God and his people. It is poured out as a sacrifice to forgive the sins of many.
