Teamwork Makes The Dream Work

Calling & Purpose

23 And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. 24 For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.

Luke 9:23-24

1 Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted. 2 Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

Galatians 6:1-2

Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted,

2 Timothy 3:12

We are promised guidance and provision in fulfilling His purpose.

18 Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. 19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Matthew 28:18-20

It is through the CALLING God placed on our lives that we fulfill our part in the purpose set before us.

If we are walking out our calling in being disciples, we find that the greatness of God’s plan and purpose for our lives provides fulfillment.

When we are walking out our calling, the harvest of churches, communities, states, nations, and the world will begin to be reaped!

We weren’t meant to spread the gospel alone.

36 Now there was in Joppa a disciple named Tabitha, which, translated, means Dorcas. She was full of good works and acts of charity. 37 In those days she became ill and died, and when they had washed her, they laid her in an upper room. 38 Since Lydia was near Joppa, the disciples, hearing that Peter was there, sent two men to him, urging him, “Please come to us without delay.” 39 So Peter rose and went with them. And when he arrived, they took him to the upper room. All the widows stood beside him weeping and showing tunics and other garments that Dorcas made while she was with them. 40 But Peter put them all outside, and knelt down and prayed; and turning to the body he said, “Tabitha, arise.” And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter she sat up. 41 And he gave her his hand and raised her up. Then, calling the saints and widows, he presented her alive. 42 And it became known throughout all Joppa, and many believed in the Lord. 43 And he stayed in Joppa for many days with one Simon, a tanner.

Acts 9:36-43

For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead.

James 2:26

I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called,

Ephesians 4:1

Tabitha WALKED in her calling!

Peter knew that God wasn’t after the things she had done for people. God knew the heart of this woman Tabitha that did those things.

Tabitha didn’t walk out the calling in her life for Jesus to show people. She walked in the calling of her life and shared it because of who Jesus was to her!

“Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father.

John 14:12

42 And it became known throughout all Joppa, and many believed in the Lord.

Acts 9:42

A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other.

1 Corinthians 12:7

When we work together as the church, each operating in the gifts and callings God gave us… MANY WILL COME TO KNOW JESUS AND BE SAVED!

When we strive to operate in gifts we want or like verses operating in the ones God gave us, we put earthly value on spiritual experiences.

Our callings were meant to operate together!

1 At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” 2 And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them 3 and said, “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. 4 Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 5 “Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, 6 but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea. 7 “Woe to the world for temptations to sin! For it is necessary that temptations come, but woe to the one by whom the temptation comes!

Matthew 18:1-7

42 And it became known throughout all Joppa, Columbia County, and many believed in the Lord.

Acts 9:42

6 “Seek the LORD while he may be found; call upon him while he is near; 7 let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. 8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD.

Isaiah 55:6-8

Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
