The Spirit of Rejection
1 Samuel 16
1 Peter 5:8
(8) Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.
Mark 12:10
”Have you not read this Scripture: “‘The stone that the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone;“
REJECTION:
1 : to refuse to believe, believe in,
accept, or consider (something or someone)
2 : to refuse to love, care for, or give attention to (something or someone)
REJECTION = TO THROW
How the spirit of rejection influences people:
(1) It who you are
(2) It will our way of looking at life
(3) It will your ability to from God
Romans 10:9
(9) Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Proverbs 3:5-6
(5) Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. (6) In all your ways acknowledge Him, and he will make straight your paths.
1 Samuel 16:10-11
(10) In the same way all seven of Jesse’s sons were presented to Samuel. But Samuel said to Jesse, “The Lord has not chosen any of these.” (11) Then Samuel asked, “Are these all the sons you have?” “There is still the youngest,” Jesse replied. “But he’s out in the fields watching the sheep and goats.” “Send for him at once,” Samuel said. “We will not sit down to eat until he arrives.”
PROPHET = A PERSON WHO
1 Samuel 16:6-7
(6) When they arrived, Samuel took one look at Eliab and thought, “Surely this is the Lord’s anointed!” (7) But the Lord said to Samuel, “Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.
1 Samuel 16:10
(10) In the same way all seven of Jesse’s sons were presented to Samuel. But Samuel said to Jesse, “The Lord has not chosen any of these.”
(1) It attacks who you are
(2) It will distort our way of looking at life
(3) It will hinder your ability to receive from God
Just because something looks like an upgrade does not mean it’s your assignment.
1 Samuel 16:11
(11) Then Samuel asked, “Are these all the sons you have?” “There is still the youngest,” Jesse replied. “But he’s out in the fields watching the sheep and goats.” “Send for him at once,” Samuel said. “We will not sit down to eat until he arrives.”
Matthew 20:16
(16) So those who are last now will be first, and those who are first will be last.
God has designated 8 to be the number of regeneration, or resurrection. The number 8 also denotes a new beginning. It represents those who are connected to God through the Spirit of Life.
1 Samuel 16:21-23
(21) So David went to Saul and began serving him. Saul loved David very much, and David became his armor bearer. (22) Then Saul sent word to Jesse asking, “Please let David remain in my service, for I am very pleased with him.” (23) And whenever the tormenting spirit from God troubled Saul, David would play the harp. Then Saul would feel better, and the tormenting spirit would go away.
1 Samuel 18:10-11
(10) The very next day a tormenting spirit from God overwhelmed Saul, and he began to rave in his house like a madman. David was playing the harp, as he did each day. But Saul had a spear in his hand, (11) and he suddenly hurled it at David, intending to pin him to the wall. But David escaped him twice.
Psalm 51:5
(5) Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me.
(1) It attacks who you are
(2) It will distort our way of looking at life
(3) It will hinder your ability to receive from God
1 John 4:17-18
(17) In this [union and fellowship with Him], love is completed and perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment [with assurance and boldness to face Him]; because as He is, so are we in this world.
