Free Gifts Miracles and Prophecy

Now, dear brothers and sisters, regarding your question about the special abilities the Spirit gives us. I don’t want you to misunderstand this. You know that when you were still pagans, you were led astray and swept along in worshiping speechless idols. So I want you to know that no one speaking by the Spirit of God will curse Jesus, and no one can say Jesus is Lord, except by the Holy Spirit. There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all. There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord. God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us. A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other. 1 Corinthians‬ 12‬:1‬-7‬ (NLT)‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

To one person the Spirit gives the ability to give wise advice; to another the same Spirit gives a message of special knowledge. The same Spirit gives great faith to another, and to someone else the one Spirit gives the gift of healing. He gives one person the power to perform miracles, and another the ability to prophesy. He gives someone else the ability to discern whether a message is from the Spirit of God or from another spirit. Still another person is given the ability to speak in unknown languages, while another is given the ability to interpret what is being said. It is the one and only Spirit who distributes all these gifts. He alone decides which gift each person should have. 1 Corinthians‬ 12‬:8‬-11 (NLT)‬‬

Gifts of Power: miracles, healing, and faith

Gifts of Revelation: word of knowledge, word of wisdom, and discerning of spirits

Gifts of Inspiration: prophecy, tongues, and interpretation of tongues ‬‬‬‬

What is the Gift of Miracles?

The gift of miracles is the ability to welcome uncommon and supernatural occurrences by the power of the Holy Spirit. These are the supernatural demonstrations of the power of God by which the laws of nature are altered, suspended, or controlled. This spiritual gift is manifested not by human efforts but by the Holy Spirit.

Just as Jesus performed miracles to show the people who He was, we are to perform miracles to point people to the God we love and serve!

Peter and John went to the Temple one afternoon to take part in the three o’clock prayer service. As they approached the Temple, a man lame from birth was being carried in. Each day he was put beside the Temple gate, the one called the Beautiful Gate, so he could beg from the people going into the Temple. When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for some money. 

Peter and John looked at him intently, and Peter said, “Look at us!” The lame man looked at them eagerly, expecting some money. But Peter said, “I don’t have any silver or gold for you. But I’ll give you what I have. In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, get up and walk!” 

Then Peter took the lame man by the right hand and helped him up. And as he did, the man’s feet and ankles were instantly healed and strengthened. He jumped up, stood on his feet, and began to walk! Then, walking, leaping, and praising God, he went into the Temple with them. 

All the people saw him walking and heard him praising God. When they realized he was the lame beggar they had seen so often at the Beautiful Gate, they were absolutely astounded! They all rushed out in amazement to Solomon’s Colonnade, where the man was holding tightly to Peter and John. Acts‬ 3‬:1‬-11 (NLT)

What is the Gift of Prophecy?

The gift of prophecy is a gift in which the Holy Spirit gives a person special insight into the future impact, results, or destiny of a situation, person, or community. This gift of the Spirit is one that the Scripture says we should “especially desire” (1 Corinthians 14:1). The gift of prophecy is a supernatural word from the Lord to share with others for the purpose of edifying, encouraging, comforting, and building them up. It can also provide confirmation, correction, or direction and insight regarding the future.

The fruit of the Spirit supports the proper release of the gifts of the Spirit.

Spiritual gifts are not given to us to call people out! They are to call people IN! (Into a deeper relationship with God)
