I Love you, You're my Family!

Sacred Sunday Sermon: A Seed Anointing

January 26, 2025   /   Winston Salem First Assembly

When the kingdom of God was presented to the people of Israel, Jesus spent time loving people others had pushed to the margins of society. Then, as if that wasn’t enough, Jesus fed people when there wasn’t enough food for He and His disciples:

Eating them is awesome but it won’t provide for the future…what’s next? Our needs must surrender so we receive a harvest!

The most nutrition in a plant is in the seeds! It’s tempting to feed on them only, but what happens when we put seeds in the right hands/the right place?

5 loaves and 2 fish fed 5,000 in Matthew 14:13-21 with 12 basketfuls of broken pieces left over.

7 loaves and 3 fish from disciples fed 4,000 in Matthew 15:29-39 with 7 basketfuls of broken pieces left over.

(Always more left over than what they started with…seeds for tomorrow)

In Jesus’ hands, little is much!

Jesus constantly makes big things happen with strategic investments:

Seeds start small but end BIG!

Matthew 13:31-32
He told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.”

Mustard seeds are invasive and robust!
Red, Brown and Yellow Seeds…darker they are the more robust (hot) and healthier they get! Mustard seed has nearly perfect nutritional balance. Immense benefits of vitamins and minerals.

Jesus is proclaiming the viral nature of His Gospel! Once the truth is revealed, it will rock people to their core…forever transforming them!
(Isaiah 55:11 …so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.)

The seed is the embryonic stage of the plant life cycle. Most seeds consist of three parts: embryo, endosperm, and seed coat.

The embryo is a tiny plant that has a root, a stem, and one or more leaves.
There is a plant in the seed!!! Wow! It’s already there! Your harvest is already present!

The endosperm is the nutritive tissue of the seed, often a combination of starch, oil, and protein.
There is provision in the seed!!! It’s already there! See! Your needs are already met! (Adam Eve in the garden…See!)

The seed coat is a protective covering that can help seeds remain viable for long periods of time.
There is protection in the seed!!! It’s already there! What God has prepared for you is FOR YOU! He’s holding it for the right time, right opportunity.

Sin isn’t the only thing people can catch in our community…they can catch Jesus too, if you’re a carrier! (Who would’ve imagined a virus would make people act this crazy?)

We’ve asked God to do a great thing here at Winston Salem through First Church, and He has answered our prayers with SEEDS (I’m not talking about magic beans!)

1. Do You See What I See?
God places big things inside of little things!
We need to build more than what is required to serve the need beyond todays sight

2. Do You See What I Seed?
A Diversity of Involvement leads to the fulfilment of the vision!
There’s a tree in your seed!
While we would settle for one lost soul, God wants to save generations!

3. Do You Seed What I Seed?
When we put our seeds together, we can plant a forest!
Good Seed-not contaminated or full of waste! We must be strategic and faithful with our seed.
God seems to always call us to use what we have, to achieve what we can’t.

My goal: To give away more than I keep! (Momma Flo) top giver in a church of 4,000 in Daytona Beach. (Widow)

Ask God just how generous do I get to be? Write it down. Turn it in. Plan it out. Invest.

Pray about your Seed: Ask God how much do you get to invest? (listen for the uncommon) Good seed is God’s measure. Think in terms of your investment.

Proclaim/Pledge the Seed: Write down the vision, then speak it!
(couples agree or combine)

Protect the Seed: Remind Yourself about your seed plan. Do not lose sight until it is in the soil!

Plan to Seed: Strategize how the seed will be fulfilled for planting. (Break it down to small goals).

Produce the Seed: Make sure everything is prepared and ready! Don’t eat your seed: If you eat your seed you only feed your need. If you plant your seed you’ll starve your need to death!

Press the Seed into the Soil: Be a faithful farmer/present your seed to community/kingdom soil. Good seed deserves good soil! Celebrate your planting season!

Did you witness that huge mound of manure outside? Sometimes the things that cause the greatest growth and transformation are difficult to manage. They stink, they are messy, they are PEOPLE! We cannot ignore the fact that our greatest harvest comes in the form of PEOPLE!

PEOPLE are our Fruit! When we cast vision into 2025…make sure there are people in it! (Salvations, Healings, Deliverance, and Discipleship)

Is it any wonder the seed is embryonic, JUST like babies?

You will have the opportunity to take seed with you today; some you will keep, and some you will have an opportunity to scatter into the soil! I wonder who dares to press their seed deep into the soil? I wonder who is desperate enough to get close and plant for a supernatural harvest?

Jesus declared that if we have the wild raging abundant faith as small as a mustard seed, we could move mountains!

Jesus had an anointing that few discuss, when food (seeds) were placed in His hands, He multiplied it! He has Winston Salem First in the Palm of His Hands, How much Seed will we place into His hands? Will we be part of His Miracle in Winston Salem, and in your life?

1. We mix the various seeds representing the diversity of our community.

2. We pray for the seeds to be multiplied and blessed as GOOD SEED.

3. We pour the seeds through the hands of our Spiritual Leadership as Christ’s Authority at Winston Salem First.

4. We Pray and we Proclaim today! (The first of Six Seed Steps: Bring your pledge and take some seed home) We are praying for the multiplication on your house so that God’s house may be blessed!
